You may have a work injury..you need a tenacious lawyer fighting for you.

THERE ARE MANY AND VARIED INTERNAL INJURIES WHICH CAN BE WORK RELATED

Usually internal injuries related to work arise out of working conditions, toxic environments, and work stress over a time until the symptoms affect a worker's ability to perform their duties at work or perform their activities of daily living.

Direct Internal Injury:

A direct internal injury may be caused by such examples as crush injury to the chest puncturing the lungs, a shock injury causing a heart attack, and/or blunt force causing puncture or tear of any internal system or organ.

A Gradual Internal Injury:

A gradual internal injury usually occurs as a result of  working in an adverse  environmental conditions. Examples, although not an exhaustive list, may help you determine whether you might have a  work related injury.

Breathing problems can occur if a worker is exposed to chemicals, fumes, fiberglass particles, dust, and many other substances. Breathing problems can also occur if the worker's space is enclosed without proper ventilation.

Heart problems can occur from overwork, heavy work,  sedentary work, overtime, extreme heat, varying shifts, exposure to many chemicals and the combustion of particular materials.

Diabetes can be aggravated by missed lunch breaks and mid-morning and mid-afternoon breaks.

Risk of stroke can be increased by long hours, stressful environment, extreme heat, overwork and many other scenarios.

Compensable Consequence Internal Injury:

Most compensable consequence internal injuries probably occur as a result of stress on the job from harassment, mistreatment, being overworked and overwhelmed, and abusive demands. Stress can cause a myriad of symptoms and affect most internal body systems. Most internal compensable consequence injuries are actually an aggravation of an existing medical condition. An aggravation of an existing medical condition means that a worker may have come to the job with mild heart disease but because of the work exposure, the worker's heart disease is worsening at an accelerated  rate due to the occupational exposure to adverse working conditions.

Gastrointestinal symptoms and conditions such as constipation, diarrhea, acid reflux, and ulcers also gradually occur following the use of various medicines taken as a result of a physical or emotional injury.

Except for the specific types of internal injuries discussed above, most of the symptoms of an internal injury occur over time. A worker may not realize their condition is getting worse due to their work. The worsening is often indicated by a higher dose of medicine, a change in medicine, and self-imposed activity limitations. Sometimes worker's sense the worsening and seek medical attention but do not attribute it to their work. Many private physicians are concerned with treating the condition and do not often address other possible causes of this worsening other than the "natural progression" of the disease. Some workers do not realize their condition is worsening until an event occurs such as a heart attack or a stroke or just not being able to report to work one more day.
